A man was shot dead during a robbery at Ezibeleni General Dealer in Orlando East on Valentine’s Day.
Two men who were wielding a firearm entered the shop and robbed it of an undisclosed sum of money.
Also caught in the robbery was a cigarette delivery van whose occupants were ordered out of the car and to lie on the ground.
When they refused to comply with the command one of them was shot and died at the scene.
A bystander was also shot and his condition could not be ascertained.
The robbers took an undisclosed amount of money and made good their escape on foot.
Later on that evening the robbers hijacked a vehicle driven by a lady ordering her to take them to the Maponya Mall.
Police spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwane said a case of murder, attempted murder, robbery and hijacking had been opened.
