The South African Athletics Championships have received a major boost following star sprinter Akani Simbine’s decision to be available on 20-22 April.
This is the ultimate track and field event for local athletes. Many come to it hoping to impress ahead of selection to major events like the World Championships.
Simbine this week confirmed he would be in Potchefstroom for the nationals, which coincide with the IAAF World Relays on the same weekend.
He has had a good start to the season in which he is aiming at doing well in the World Championships later in the year.
Simbine has run 9.93 seconds 100m while in the half a lap race his best stays 19.95 seconds for the year.
