The Soul Inspiration in partnership with Nedbank, City of Johannesburg, National Youth Development Agency, recently held an entrepreneurial seminar at June 16 Memorial Arch in Jabavu Soweto.Soul Inspiration director Nthabiseng Montsho said an aim of the seminar was to assist township entrepreneurs to grow their small businesses. She added that it was also to market themselves and bring information about their businesses to people.“The country is going for entrepreneurial route by helping in contributing to the country economy. We want to inspire and motivate people in business to keep going, by bringing relevant departments to them therefore to bring information. We do this to encourage collaboration, networking, engaging and growing,” said Montsho.

Nedbank Business manager Manny Mabapa said in business, the owner starts small. He added that they should know what they want. “You should have an aim in business and it should generate money therefore to change other peoples’ lives. In business, understand your needs such as opening a business account and save money. Nedbank assists with business registering as it has partnered with CIPC. It only costs R175.00 to register a business with Nedbank, you will have a tax number, tax clearance, business account and BEE Certificate,” said Mabapa.Mabapa added that people should include professionals who will assist them where they are lacking.“Have an accountant if you do not know how to save or use money for the business. They are practical tools and financial services that save your business time and money. Business insurance is also important for its protection,” he said.City of Johannesburg Economic Development spokesperson Sylvester Sindane said government creates conjusive environment for business to operate. He added that structure of city stimulates economic activities in them.“They provide services needed, skills and training needed to small businesses. Government offers help concerning the kind of outcomes. The business should benefit the community, not only an individual,” said Sindane.Myers Attorney candidate Warwick Maybery said they assist with family law, marriage contracts, business law and advices when there is a challenge.“To have a lawyer is important especially when you are in business therefore to be protected. There might be employment of people so there should be basic knowledge and skills on how to run a business,” said MayberyLeedasheep Consulting motivational speaker Tebogo Khomotso said what matters is the change that people put in life. He added that fear, procrastination and comparison keep people from going ahead,“Winning and being successful is important.
