Local hip-hop group PSK Fame from Palm Springs in the Vaal is set to release an album in August this year.

PSK Fame group leader Kabelo Molapisi, 18, said he is currently in Grade 11 at Phoenix College in Johannesburg. He said he is inspired by some of the artists in the hip hop industry.

“My inspiration in the music industry is Nasty C. I wanted to quit music due to discouragement and not believing that I can make it. But Nasty C’s hard work motivated me to the extent that I decided not quit music,” said Molapisi.

He added that he started singing in 2013 while in Grade 8 and joined the PSK Fame music group.

“We have planned to release an album in August. It is going to contain 12 tracks. I have planned to distribute the album to radio stations. For TV, I will send videos of the songs. Music is my passion, even though I want to study hard and become a Criminal Psychologist. In case things do not go accordingly, I can have a stand-by. The name of the album is going to be Life over Matter and it will be the first album. It took time to make it as we started from November 2016,” Molapisi said.

Molapisi said the group consists of three members: BaneleSthebe known as Blazer and SibusisoPhongwayo who is Spuda P. He added that he designed his industrial name called Dollar Rhymes. Molapisi added that they have their manager who is ZandileZwane.

“Our manager has got equipment so we record for free. He also organises some events and gigs for us. We once performed with Romeo William who is a rapper. We do free performances because we want people to know about us,” said Molapisi.

He added that on 16 June, they performed at Vaal free of charge. For bookings people can contact 064 417 9916 and on Whatsapp, Instagram: dollarrhymes, Twitter: @rhymessaand Facebook: KabeloMolapisi.
